Laura here! I hope you’re all well and keeping safe at home.
I thought I would writ you a little about me so all your Mummy’s and Daddy’s know who teaches you dance!
I qualified in 2001 as a Secondary School teacher. I have taught in schools for 18years. I developed Dance in two local secondary schools, introducing BTEC, GCSE Dance and Performing Arts. Students gained some of the highest grades in Sussex.
More recently I work with Primary schools to aid the development of Dance within Primaries. I led development programmes to assist teachers deliver Dance within their schools and set up Dance Clubs for their students.
I have always entered competitions and shows with my students. In 2016 we won the regional Rock Challenge competitions and got to the finals representing East Sussex, we came runners up!
I have not always taught. When I was younger, I attended a dance school, took part in a variety of different styles of Dance. I performed in festivals, competitions and shows, I was also lucky enough to get through auditions to be involved in panto! . . . oh yes, I was! I performed with local amateur dramatic groups, singing, dancing, and acting.
I love being a part of APA, as I can give children the enjoyment and passion, I have to them. I love seeing their faces light up when they are dancing. I can’t wait to get back to it and start looking at different Dance genres/dancing through the decades.
I love choreography.
I love music.
I love eating out, going to the cinema, and going on walks.
I can’t wait to see you all again soon take care.
Love
Laura x
